Friends, fun, and birthday time!

We celebrated Miko's birthday this past weekend with family and friends. Landon's good friend Matt has a daughter that was born just 5 days before Leila. How incredibly amazing it is that God brought Landon and Matt together in friendship so many years ago, and that they continue to remain very close friends as they take on the new role of fatherhood...they both love carrying their daughter around in the Baby Bjorn. =0)

Leila has another jumper that was given to her by friends that she is really having a blast in. This is her favorite toy in the house, by far. We think Nalu is jealous.

The Exersaucer

So someone came up with this idea to make a "stationary" walker...to replace the old school walkers that we had as kids, which were the cause of serious injuries from kids falling down stairs while in it, etc.
My future brother-in-law commented that Leila looks like Captain Kirk on the Starship Enterprise in this thing. I agree.
She is starting to enjoy it though, as overwhelming in color and activity as it looks. Many thanks to Lemuel, who with this gift, has given us the chance to get some things done around the house.

Moving on up...to solid foods!

Today was Leila's first day with rice cereal. Opa put together her high chair so we've been getting her acclimated to it, and she had her first rice cereal breakfast in the high chair this morning. Most of the rice cereal ended up on her bib or her face of course, and the puzzled/sour look she gave Miko when getting her first spoonful was just hilarious. We will stick with the cereals for now, then in a few weeks try some vegetables. Landon is excited to make her baby food. We hear if babies aren't exposed to vegetables first, they may never take to them. Who knows if that's true? I still haven't really taken to vegetables. HA.

Also, she has started to sit up on her own. We took her out to dinner last night and tested her new booster seat (thanks Auntie Erika) and she really enjoyed it.

Triathlete in training

My coaches from Team in Training (TNT) gave us this outfit when Leila was born. I was a TNT triathlete for 3 years before hanging up the swim cap, clipless pedals, and sneaks for my little girl. One of my lifelong dreams is to complete an Ironman tri...maybe one day...who knows?

Check out the crazy bald spot. It's from sleeping on her back and rubbing her head against the sheets. We wake up to a sheet full of hair in the mornings. She's also a big thumb-sucker now. Sometimes the right thumb...sometimes the left...sometimes both at the same time...
