The Grocery Game

Now that we are back home, this week has been spent restocking the fridge and pantry. During our trip to Hawaii, we spent some time at the grocery stores out there. Talk about the price of paradise! The cost of living is definitely higher out there. How did my parents afford to feed us growing up??

Friends told me that in order to save money, they eat dinner at their parent's house. I would be doing the same if we lived out there. (sorry mom and dad, hehe)

Enjoy this picture of my most recent trip to the store.

$26 got all of this, thanks to coupons and supermarket specials. I wonder what this would cost us out in Hawaii...

Our first family vacation with Leila

We just returned from our first family trip with Leila to Hawaii, and gosh, we are so thankful we had the chance to take this trip. However, it wasn't much of a vacation for our little girl, who unfortunately caught the flu while we were out there and was ill the entire time. You'd never be able to tell though, she sure played her heart out while she was there. We visited friends, ate good Hawaiian food and Leila was able to spend a good amount of time with my in-laws and their extended family.
Two of the most memorable parts of this trip were the celebration of my older sister's wedding in Kauai and Leila meeting both of her great-grandmothers that reside in Hawaii. The great-grandfathers on both sides have passed away, but she has 3 great-grandmothers. We never knew our great-grandmothers, so this was very special for us to see.
We love Hawaii, but traveling with a 1 year old is a tough job, and we sure are glad to be home. It may be a while before we take another long trip all together again...especially with a new baby coming! Speaking of which, baby #2 appears to be doing well. Miko is almost in her 3rd trimester. This pregnancy sure is passing by faster than the first, and we have much planning and preparation to do still! Oh well, guess there's no vacation from our vacation to recover....ha!
